What does the X-Comp Max GR control do?

What does the X-Comp Max GR control do?

The Max GR control stands for Maximum Gain Reduction. It provides a facility to limit the amount of gain reduction applied to the higher signal peaks. Peaks that would normally be compressed by a large amount because they are well over the threshold can only be reduced in gain up to the maximum imposed limit, so are therefore compressed less than you would expect.
