Yes, if you connect your mobile device directly to the 'USB' port of the SSL 1, this will drain your devices battery. In this configuration, the SSL 1 takes power from your mobile device.
However, when using the '5V EXT' port, the power for the SSL 1 will be taken straight from your phone charger or power bank. Please note that SSL 1 does not provide charging power to the connected mobile device.
