Important Note: You must be running 360 Link v.1.3.7 & 360 Link Bus Compressor v1.2.6 or higher to follow this process and successfully upgrade/downgrade Waves plug-ins versions.
Due to the way in which Waves plug-in versions work, when you update (or downgrade) your Waves plug-ins versions, you will need to follow some specific steps in order to successfully get 360 Link (or 360 Link Bus Compressor) to re-connect to the updated version and ensure you do not lose your previous Waves plug-ins parameter settings in your sessions.
Upon loading a DAW session after updating (or downgrading) Waves plug-ins, you will see the following dialogue for all instances of Link:
The dialogue warning lists the steps you must take to re-link 360 Link plug-ins to the updated (or downgraded) Waves version, ensuring your settings are not lost. For completeness, we will list them below with some added detail.
- Firstly, click OK to close all the warning dialogue boxes. There will be a dialogue box for every instance of 360 Link that has a Waves plug-in in it, this is normal.
- DO NOT SAVE YOUR DAW SESSION AT ANY POINT DURING THIS PROCESS, because it will result in losing your settings before Link has had chance to be successfully re-connected to the new Waves versions.
- When you have closed all the warning dialogues, open any instance of 360° Link. It will appear blank, with no Waves plug-in inside. Do not panic! Continue to follow the steps in this article.
- In SSL 360° Link, click CONFIGURE LINK, make sure you’re on the PLUG-INS column and click SCAN PLUG-INS.
- Link will re-scan your plug-ins. When it has finished, simply close the DAW session and DO NOT SAVE (this will feel odd, but it is crucial you do not save!).
- Open the DAW session again - your Waves plug-ins will be re-stored back into Link, with the correct parameter settings recalled. You can now get back to normal operations.
- If you accidentally saved the DAW session before your completed the process detailed above, you’ll need to load a backed-up DAW session (from before the mistake of saving was made), then repeat the process listed above again.
