Nucleus 2 software recovery from the SD card

If you have added Nucleus 1 (V1.6/2) software to your Nuclues 2 you will not be able to update the latest version of Nucleus 2 software (V2.0/2) via the updater program. You will now need to follow the process outlined below to recover your Nucleus 2 console.

You will need:

1. An SD card (2GB preferred, higher may not work depending on Nucleus software version).

2. A USB serial adapter: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Plugable-Adapter-Prolific-PL2303HX-Chipset/dp/B00425S1H8?pldnSite=1
3. A Windows machine ideally.

4. Windows PuTTY app: https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html

First, in Windows find the COM port of the USB serial adapter:
Go to Control Panel > Device Manager > Ports section and expand it:

4. Open the PuTTY app
5. In Session, make sure the highlighted items are set as follows:

6. In Connection select Serial and check that they match:

7. Click Open (you may wish to save this as a session to come back to).

Then follow the instructions below:

1. Copy code.img attached to a blank FAT formatted SD card. We suggest using a 2GB SD card.

2. Connect the adapter to the serial port on the Nucleus.

3. Turn on the Nucleus and you should see some lines of text followed by Auto boot - Control C to Abort. At this point press CTRL+C you should get a monitor prompt MON>

4. Insert the SD card into slot in the back of the Nucleus.

5. On the terminal type X to load code from SD. The terminal will report Loading code from MMC card, wait until it returns to the MON prompt again.

6. On the terminal type !s to save code to flash. The terminal will report Compressing code..., wait until it returns to the MON prompt again.

7. Remove the SD card.

8. Power cycle the Nucleus. Observe on the terminal the Nucleus booting.
