Troubleshooting Failed Authorizations and Payment Declines

To protect your security and privacy, your bank cannot provide Solid State Logic with information about why your payment was declined. Because of this, you most likely need to contact your bank directly to solve most payment issues.

Contact your bank to resolve other payment issues even if:

   •    You've successfully used the payment method on a previous order.
   •    Part of your order has already charged and shipped successfully.
   •    You have funds available in your bank or credit account to cover the order cost.

Here are steps you can take to resolve payment issues:

  • Contact your bank about payment security policies. Your bank may flag any unexpected activity on your account. This includes first time orders and high value purchases, regardless of the amount of funds available (or credit limit). Your bank may require your verbal authorization to proceed with a transaction. (Your bank's phone number can be found on the back of your card)
  • Contact your bank about daily withdrawal or purchase limits. Most banks have limits on how much money can be charged or accessed in a single day. If you exceed this daily amount, your bank may block your account from any further activity regardless of available funds in the account. Your bank may require you to request a higher purchase limit to complete the transaction.  (Your bank's phone number can be found on the back of your card)
  • Contact your bank about payment authorisations and reserved funds. When you place an order with Solid State Logic, we contact your card's issuing bank to confirm that your credit card has a valid number, and has not been reported as lost or stolen. Your bank's response is communicated via a full authorisation for the amount of the purchase.  (Your bank's phone number can be found on the back of your card)

If you make changes to your order, cancel items, or an order consisting of multiple-items ships in more than one shipment, your card may be authorised for each change and funds may be reserved against your account for each authorisation.

Some banks have been known to hold these authorisations for 7-10 business days. If your payment is declined due to the lack of available funds, contact your bank to confirm if the reserved funds are authorisations, verify the amount of time they hold authorisations, and request that they remove any extra authorisation to free up funds in your account.

Do I need to be charged VAT?

VAT (Value Added Tax) : When you have a valid VAT number of any country in the European Community, it is important that you correctly fill in your VAT number in the appropriate section. Being an EEC based company, we have to respect the European VAT legislation :

- If you live in the UK (strictly speaking: if delivery is in the UK), we will charge you 17.5% VAT. If you have a valid UK VAT number, you can reclaim this VAT from the UK Tax office.
- If you live inside the European Union (outside UK) and you are not a VAT-registered organisation, which means that you do not have a valid VAT number of any EEC country, we will charge you 17.5% VAT.
- If you live inside the European Union (outside UK) and you are a VAT-registered organisation, which means that you do have a valid VAT number of an EEC country, we will not charge you any VAT.
- If you live outside the European Union: we will not charge you any VAT.

In some countries of the European Community, some VAT numbers are registered only for trade within the country itself and not for international business. These national-only VAT numbers are not valid. If you have such national-only VAT number, please ask the VAT-authorities of your country to validate your VAT number for international transactions.

With every order we will check the indicated VAT number for validity on the official web-site of the EEC. If your VAT number is not regarded as valid by this website, our system will reject your VAT number and regard you as non-VAT registered. You can do the same VAT number verification yourself on the official web-site of the EEC : http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/lang.do?fromWhichPage=vieshome&selectedLanguage=EN
Please ensure you have entered your EU VAT number in the correct format. If you are still experiencing difficulties with the validity of your VAT number please contact us
